Ten categories with more than 80 divisons! PDF Print E-mail

ImageOver the years, nine different categories were established. This year, we have a new one - public speaking, or oratory. With more than eighty divisions in these categories, there is certainly something to appeal to the taste and talents of every home learner.

Our new online registration facility allows you to register right now, to change your registrations, or to cancel them. After 31st October, the closing date for registrations, changes and cancellations will carry a fee of R10-00 per item.

The 9 categories, established over the years, are:

1.   Dance and Rhythmic gymnastics (refer to general information for time limits below) all forms of dance are welcome.

2.   Drama: (refer to general information for time limits below)

Improvisation: unprepared. 5 min to prepare. Use only 1 character, may use an imaginary person in play. Time limit: 3 min

Mime: using gestures and movement. No speech or props are allowed.

Monologue: own choice in costume and decor

Sight reading. 3 min to prepare before participation. Books are supplied by adjudicator.

Poetry: with or without movement (dramatized)

Puppet show: only 1 person for the puppets and their voices, 10 min

Prose : with or without movement (dramatized)

Dialogue: 2 participants may use costumes, props and sound effects. Comic or dramatic.

Concert presentation: only for experienced participants. 15 min. (contact me for details)

3.   Home craft:

Flower arranging

Embroidery

Bakery

Needlework

Other

4.   Art:

Sculpture: clay, plaster of Paris, wire, paper machè, cement

Photography: black and white or color

Ceramics: hand or wheel crafted

Computer: animation, web page, etc.

Art of painting: water color paint , plaka paint, fabric paint, acrylic, etc.

Drawings and sketching: various medium (pencil, crayons, pastel, koki pen, charcoal, pen-and-ink)

Video or short film : 10 min

Design an advertisement

Design a front page of a paper.

Graphic design

5.   Music: (see general information for time limits)

Instrumental: all instruments

Classic:

Earlier period (before 1600),

Barok (+-1600 -1750)

Classic (+-1750 - 1820)

Romantic (+-1820 - 1900)

Impressionistic style

20 Century period (+- 1920...)

South African Composers:

Study

Traditional (woodwind, brass and strings)

Concert program: 3 different pieces 10 min

Conserto: 1 movement

Sonatina: any 2 movements

String quartet - quintet

Ensemble: 3 to 9 musicians
